Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre Extension

To handle the increased volume and frequency of international events and conferences in Melbourne, the Victorian Government decided to increase the size and capacity of its landmark convention centre. This also necessitated the expansion of on-site car parking.

DESCRIPTION

Working together with Probuild, the team at Stilcon were engaged to manufacture the vast trusses that support the Exhibition Hall roof.
Central to our work was the fabrication of 5 main trusses, each measuring 85 metres long and each weighing over 70 tonnes. Each truss was comprised of eight individual modules, each one 21 metres x 5 metres in size, and the finished product combined the highest levels of strength with structural integrity with manoeuvrability for safe, stable installation.
