Collins Square Redevelopment

When Melbourne’s landmark Collins Square expanded from two buildings to four, Stilcon was engaged to help create a feature roof to link all four buildings into one precinct.

DESCRIPTION

Originally consisting of two towers, Collins Square developed into a set of four office buildings with retail and food outlets. With the addition of the two extra towers, Stilcon was part of the team that produced the roof which sits over the towers creating a covered precinct. After fabricating the steel panels in-house, a specialist glazier was brought into the Stilcon factory to affix the glass. The steel panels were then painted and placed using custom-made lifting frames, which were needed to protect the glass due to the flexibility of the steel. The project’s timeframe was critical as the buildings were already open and in use, which meant that crews needed to work day and night in order to complete the work over the Christmas break closure.
