720 Bourke Street

A multi-faceted project, Stilcon was contracted to provide architectural and structural steel for a vast new complex in the busy Docklands Stadium precinct.

DESCRIPTION

This was a unique build that saw the team overcome a range of challenges both at ground level and at rooftop.
Filling the void within the building, a showpiece helix staircase required significant cantilevering over the open foyer. This was pre-fabricated in modules at Stilcon’s workshop and then delivered and installed – often outside regular hours to avoid local disruption. At the other end of the project, a steel ‘halo’ was designed to sit at the top of the building, giving the roof a floating appearance, again fully manufactured in house and assembled by our team on site, integrating the steelwork it seamlessly into the concrete superstructure. The final piece in the task was the creation of a canopy connecting the building to the promenade.
